Modelling and acting can benefit children in more ways than one. Success in life is often about doing a good job of marketing yourself and modeling/acting can be an excellent way to gain these lifeskills. If your child is interested in modeling or acting and you are ready to commit to taking them to auditions, consider getting some professional advice. It should not require a substantial monetary commitment up front, nor should your child require a professional portfolio to get started (don't work with agencies that require it). Call the various agencies listed here and ask as many questions as you can. You can also ask for references and check with AMIS. They can tell you what to look for and what to watch out for.
