Canada's Leading Environmental Education Organizations Unit to Help Save Grassland Ecosystems
The Bison Collaborative, comprising the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM), The Toronto Zoo, Parks Canada and Earth Rangers, launches an interactive contest and educational initiative to enlighten Canadians about bison, the grasslands where they live, and the role we all play as stewards of the Earth.

Running from November 2, 2011 to February 25, 2012, the Find the Baby Bison! Contest challenges participants to locate a baby bison icon physically hidden at the ROM and the Zoo, and online at the collaborating institutions. The Grand Prize is an all-inclusive trip for four to Grasslands National Park of Canada in Saskatchewan.

A popular skating destination in the heart of the city! Visitors can enjoy Toronto’s favorite artificially-cooled outdoor rink while skating to music and taking in the beautiful surroundings of Lake Ontario and the Toronto Islands. The rink is easily accessible by TTC and by car. Parking is available. There are also on-site skate rentals, change rooms, rental lockers and skate sharpening. Harbourfront Centre’s Natrel® Rink is the first outdoor rink to open in Toronto this winter season! On Saturday, November 19 (weather permitting), come out and enjoy the scenic waterfront surroundings on the Natrel® Rink–Toronto’s favorite artificially cooled outdoor rink.

The Natrel® Rink is the hub for all SKATE CULTURE activities at Harbourfront Centre, including DJ Skate Night, Learn to Skate and HarbourKIDS: SK8.

Built in 1983, the Natrel® Rink hosts more than 150,000 visitors each skating season and is one of the largest and most popular outdoor rinks in the city. Open seven days a week, skaters of all ages and skill levels can enjoy a whirl around the rink. Regular hours of operation are Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m.–10 p.m., and from 10 a.m.-11p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

No skates? No problem! Harbourfront Centre provides skate rentals ($8), sharpening, restrooms and locker services in a newly refurbished change room.
To add to the skating experience, Harbourfront Centre provides outdoor fire pits right next to the rink! Patrons can also get cozy in our new lounge area inside the Lakeside Eats restaurant where they can play board games, watch movies and sporting events, warm up by the fireplace and enjoy delicious food, gourmet coffee and hot chocolate in between skate time!
Specialty winter comfort food demos will take place in Lakeside Eats every weekend at 2:30 p.m. throughout December. Visitors can also purchase yummy winter treats from a World Café vendor every Saturday and Sunday throughout December from 1-6 p.m.
